It all started back on July 26th, 2008 at our Route 22 location in Harrisburg, PA.
Arooga's first location was established on a stretch of highway between Harrisburg & Hershey, Pennsylvania.
President and Co-Founder Gary Huether, Jr, then a young entrepreneur fresh out of the tool business, was grappling with different concepts for his latest venture, but knew that he didn't want his new business to be known as only a "bar" or only a "restaurant". He strived to find a unique balance of both.
So was born a bar/restaurant hybrid that was conceptually different from anything around!
Gary wanted to capture business from all aspects of the market, so he created a family friendly restaurant and a casual local bar that boasted the best happy hour in town, a huge draft list, and entertainment every week.
Trouble was.they still didn't have a name! He knew that he couldn't create an awesome place without the right flag, so they ran a contest inviting guests to submit their ideas for the name. "Arooga's" stood out over hundreds of submissions.
It's all about great food, including the tastiest wings served with award winning proprietary sauces, no antibiotic ever Wagyu burgers, delicious sandwiches, garden fresh salads made from local and/or organic produce , and unique appetizers.
At Arooga's, we have bar in our name! That's why we have an awesome beer list that covers everyone from the Beer Squeek to the Beer Geek. Our team has partnered with the leading craft brewers to ensure we always have a great list filled with limited, rare, barrel aged, & specialty beers. Our craft cocktails are made with fresh juice sours, real Florida orange juice, and top shelf spirits. If that wasn't enough, we even have our own Beer (Arooga Light is brewed in PA & The Boston Beer Company produces our Arooga's Amber Ale) & Vodka (Sagoora is a small batch Non GMO corn based vodka)
Arooga's was the first Certified Green Restaurant in Pennsylvania and all of our locations follow stringent rules from never ever having styrofoam, to using environmentally friendly chemicals & soaps, and installing energy management systems to reduce our carbon footprint. Arooga's also uses reclaimed wood from felled trees and barns for our tables & wall cladding, and we purchase USDA Organic produce.

Our Franchise concept appeals to a Majority of Demographics. From ages 8 to 80, construction worker to lawyer, family to millennial, or carnivore to vegetarian, Arooga's has something to offer everyone.
Arooga's offers three different franchise opportunities that fit numerous real estate opportunities. Our model also works with 2nd generation retrofits. Our individual unit sales performance ranks high in the casual dinning sector.
Grille House & Sports Bar Model
These locations are typically suburban locations the are stand alone buildings or end caps in plazas. These locations generally range between 5,000 to 7,500 square feet.
Tap & Kitchen Model
These locations are typically located in Urban markets or near college campuses. These sites range from 3,500 to 5,000 square feet and can be built to run as full service or with counter/kiosk ordering. The tap & kitchen model offers a full service bar. This model presents a smaller version of the grille house menu and a reduced number of televisions.
Quick Serve / Airport Model
These locations offer a smaller specialty menu and can be constructed in many different ways. Models can be full or counter service. Must serve beer and wine but may not offer liquor.
